Financial Education · Penang, Malaysia
A steadier view
of your finances.
Fjord Office runs small, structured programmes for individuals and households who want to understand their financial picture with more clarity — without the noise.
What We Offer
Three programmes. Each with a clear purpose.
Each programme is designed around a specific aspect of personal financial understanding. There is no overlap, no upselling, and no pressure to proceed further than you need.
Simple Yearly Review Workshop
A one-day Saturday workshop that walks you through a seven-page written template — cash flow, EPF movement, outstanding obligations, insurance in force, and upcoming decisions. You leave with a completed copy and a short plan for the following year's review.
- Held twice a year at the Gelugor office
- Includes a completed written template
- Suitable for first-time reviewers
Understanding Investment Fees
A three-session programme devoted entirely to how fees behave across common Malaysian long-horizon products — unit trusts, PRS, and ETFs. Sessions cover stated fee structures, compounding effects over multi-decade horizons, and how to read the relevant disclosure documents.
- Three focused sessions
- No product recommendations — purely educational
- Practical document-reading skills included
Multi-Year Household Plan
A four-month engagement producing a written plan covering the next three to five years. The process includes a detailed listening session, three working sessions on cash flow, medium-term goals and risk, and a closing review where the plan is read line by line with the household.
- Four months, paced for reflection
- Written plan you keep and revisit
- No product proposals — planning only
Why Fjord Office
What makes the difference here.
Educational, not advisory
Every programme is structured to teach, not to direct. You come away with understanding you can apply, not a set of instructions to follow blindly.
Written materials you keep
Each programme produces something tangible — a completed review template, a set of working notes, or a multi-year plan document you can return to.
Small groups and one-on-one
Workshops are held in small groups so there is room for questions. The household engagement is one-on-one throughout — no audience, no comparisons.
No product sales, ever
Fjord Office does not sell financial products or receive referral fees. Our only incentive is the quality of the programme itself.
Malaysian context throughout
Content is built around Malaysian products, regulations, and household realities — EPF, unit trusts, PRS, LHDN — not generic global frameworks.
Time to think between sessions
Programmes are spaced deliberately. Decisions made after reflection are steadier than those made in a single sitting.
Not sure which programme suits you?
Send us a brief note about where you are with your finances and what you're hoping to understand better. We'll point you toward the programme that makes the most sense, or suggest you come back when the timing is right.
Questions
Things people usually ask first.
Do I need any background in finance to join a programme?
No. The workshops and sessions are written for people who have not studied finance formally. If you can read a bank statement and a basic investment fund document, you have enough to participate comfortably.
Will I be told what to invest in?
No. Fjord Office is an educational provider, not a financial adviser. We do not recommend specific products, funds, or portfolios. The programmes are designed to help you read and evaluate information on your own terms.
How often do the workshops run?
The Simple Yearly Review Workshop is held twice a year, on Saturdays, at our Gelugor office. The Understanding Investment Fees programme runs in cohorts of up to six participants. The Household Plan engagement is available on an ongoing basis, subject to capacity.
What happens during the four-month Household Plan engagement?
The engagement begins with a listening session where we understand your household's current position and what you'd like to think through. Three working sessions follow — covering cash flow, medium-term goals, and risk tolerance. The final session is a line-by-line reading of the written plan we produce together.
Is the pricing inclusive of materials?
Yes. All printed templates, working documents, and written outputs are included in the programme fee. There are no additional material charges.
How is my personal financial information handled?
Information you bring to sessions is used only within the context of the programme. Nothing is shared with third parties, and we do not retain copies of your personal financial records after the engagement concludes. Our full privacy policy is available on this site.
